Compliance with the principles and guidelines of COPE, WAME and DORA

The journal adheres to the ethical standards of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), which stipulate:

  • transparency at all stages of editing, peer review and publication;
  • impartiality on the part of editors and reviewers;
  • adherence to academic integrity – preventing plagiarism, fabrication and duplicate publication;
  • accurate attribution of authorship;
  • clear procedures for handling complaints and appeals, as well as transparent mechanisms for retracting and correcting articles.

In a broader context, the editorial board adheres to the principles of WAME (World Association of Medical Editors), in particular:

  • editorial independence from any external pressure;
  • mandatory declaration of conflicts of interest by all participants in the publishing process;
  • ensuring objective and random peer review;
  • disclosure of information regarding research funding sources;
  • support for early-career researchers.

In accordance with the DORA declaration (San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment), the journal aims to evaluate research papers primarily on the basis of their quality, novelty and genuine contribution to the advancement of science, without relying solely on bibliometric indicators (impact factor, h-index). In doing so, it recognises various forms of research outputs – software, databases, algorithms and technical solutions – whilst interdisciplinary research is regarded as equivalent to traditional publications. The editorial board also encourages open science practices, in particular preprints and open access to data.

Furthermore, the journal adheres to modern principles of open science (Open Science, Plan S, FAIR Data), particularly the promotion of open access to scientific results – Open Access. It supports the FAIR principles for data (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) – ensuring their accessibility, compatibility and reusability. Plan S regarding publication in open-access journals and repositories. It also ensures the transparent and appropriate use of artificial intelligence tools in scientific research.
