ESTABLISHMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF UKRAINIAN-AUSTRIAN RELATIONSHIPS AT THE TURN OF THE XX–XXI CENTURIES

Abstract. The article states that Ukrainian-Austrian relations occupy an important place in the national history of both countries and the pan-European historical process. The interstate political relations, which shape the general trends of bilateral cooperation, are analyzed. The foreign policy activity of Ukraine is characterized and its key priorities in the context of Ukrainian-Austrian cooperation are determined.
The process of forming the contractual and legal foundations of Ukrainian-Austrian relations, which took place in the early 1990s under the influence of the logic of the development of relations between Republic of Austria Ukraine and the Ukraine, taking into account the European integration aspirations of both states, is traced. The dynamics of trade and economic cooperation, the climate of bilateral political relations, and the needs of intercultural relations usually influence the process of forming contractual and legal foundations. Further development of the contractual and legal foundations of Austrian-Ukrainian rellations was conditioned by the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union. The constitutive directions of political relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Austria are revealed. In addition, the trends of trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Austria, which have historically been important trade partners, are represented. In general, it can be noted that despite certain ambiguous points in the relations between Ukraine and Austria, both states have quite fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation.
