ACTIONS OF POPE FRANCIS IN 2022AGAINST THE WAR IN UKRAINE

The content of the publication is the statements of Pope Francis in 2022 regarding the events taking place in Ukraine. Methodically, the Pope's reactions have been divided into fundamental Messages and Pastoral Letters, especially the annual Message for the World Day of Peace, and the Urbi et Orbi blessings during the Easter and Christmas seasons. In his messages even from 2021, the Pope warned that Russian-Ukrainian relations should not lead to heating up the conflict in Ukraine, which would spread to other countries. Further military actions will absorb further victims of the war. For moral support, the «Act of Consecration to the Heart of Our Lady» was officially promulgated throughout the Church. The Pope, comforting, assured the Ukrainians that your pain is my pain.
Another activity is the diplomatic efforts of diplomatic corps and international organizations. During his meetings with diplomats, the Pope reminded about the important role of interstate relations, which should be based on conscientious resolution of conflicts. In international organizations, the Pope saw support especially in helping migrants who wanted to take refuge from war. An important declaration of support for the Pope were the words addressed to religious leaders in Ukraine.
Then an important accent are international visits and meetings with the faithful during the Angelus midday prayer. During his visits to Malta, Canada, Kazakhstan and Bahrain, the Pope spoke of the tragic consequences of the unjust and brutal war in Ukraine, recalling the fate of the victims and families. During the Angelus prayer, the pope reported and was indignant at the news of the destruction of other places, he even mentioned specific places where violence was abused. He also reminded about the need for humanitarian aid.
During these events last year, during official speeches of about 150 official speeches, the Pope supported the Ukrainian population and called for an end to the fighting and the pursuit of a peaceful end to the war in Ukraine.
